Our 2023 Season
The National Broadway Theatre Treasure Hunt Fundraiser
October 26, 2023
This fundraiser was a bit different. NBT planned a costume treasure hunt through downtown Grand Rapids! Teams of 4-6 adult (21+) friends planned a group costume and took to the streets of Grand Rapids for a night of puzzle-solving, clue-finding, treasure hunting, and fundraising adventure! We supplied the start location, the puzzles and clues, and even a helpline in case anyone got stumped. Teams supplied their costumes, creativity, and deciphering brainpower to discover the next location. By the end of the night, through either pure genius or needed assistance, everyone finished at our final destination for awards! We had prizes for best group costume, best Treasure Hunting themed group costume, most destinations discovered, and more! A complete event description and rules were issued at the stagger-start. We couldn’t wait to see everyone and their teams all dressed up for this epic night on the town!
Broadway Masterclass: With Hamilton's Mikey Winslow
May 20 & 21, 2023
Don't "Throw away your shot"! Over 20 local artists joined Hamilton's Mikey Winslow in-person for a Broadway Masterclass! They learn original Broadway choreography from the smash hit musical "Hamilton" and received the tips and tricks through a mock broadway audition! To wrap up the day, we ended with an in-depth Q&A about Broadway, musical theatre careers, and what it takes to train for a Broadway show! Mikey Winslow grew up dancing, singing, and acting in and around Grand Rapids, MI. Upon completion of an undergraduate theater program at Western Michigan University, Mikey moved to NYC where he’s been performing on Broadway ever since. His credits include: Hamilton, West Side Story, American Idiot, Wicked (Nat’l Tour), On The Town, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Rat Pack Cabaret
January 26, 2023
The National Broadway Theatre's Rat Pack Cabaret was one of the most amazing, delicious and talent filled evenings! Our headline sponsors Amore Trattoria Italiana and School of Rock Grand Rapids went above and beyond in helping us put this memorable performance together. Our silent auction donors (Bagger Dave's Burger Tavern Cascade Twp, Bistro Bella Vita, Celebration Cinema, The Chop House Grand Rapids, Clique Lanes, Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant, Meijer, National Broadway Theatre, Railtown Brewing Company, and Trader Joe's) provided us with spectacular baskets. Of course, the night wouldn't have been nearly as entertaining without our extremely gifted local musicians and vocalists; Scott (Music Director and keyboard), Connor (bass), David (drums), Annie, Emma, Sarah, Robbie, Stephen, and TJ. We thoroughly enjoyed working with each of them! National Broadway Theatre's own Jake Dunham and Chris Hendricks emceed the evening, while Dr. Aimee Frechette, and Chele Reagh worked behind the scene. Photos are provided by Lucas Story of First Story Studio. What a night!
